January is Poverty Awareness Month. As a company that works day in and day out to create and preserve affordable housing in America, we’re deeply aware of the scope and scale of the problem. At Boston Financial we’re working to close the gap in affordable housing accessibility by continuing to focus our work on equity initiatives that help people get a safe, quality, affordable place to call home.

These are places like Postgraduate Center for Mental Health (PCMH) Residences in the Bronx and Brooklyn. PCMH consists of 557 homes across 8 affordable communities, with 431 homes dedicated to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness or living with mental illness. A major developer of housing for persons with mental illness, PCMH owns over a dozen apartment buildings in the city and is expanding its commitment to reduce homelessness among New York City’s most vulnerable citizens. PCMH’s community residence programs assist consumers with the difficult transition from long-term or revolving-door hospital stays to life in the community.
